GANBU MOB

All students in Year 1-6 who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander are provided the opportunity to come together to meet as the Ganbu Mob on Thursday afternoon throughout the term. Ganbu means one in Woi Wurrung. This session promotes opportunity to strengthen connection to culture and country and provides a voice for our First Nations students and their families and aims to build a sense of pride across our school.

Each term our First Nations’ families are invited to join a community gathering to share aspirations and ideas for increasing opportunities and supporting our school to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum. Foundation students will be offered the opportunity to attend Ganbu Mob in the latter part of the year, once they have settled in to school and their families have been consulted about their involvement. Kym Maxwell our Creative Arts teacher facilitates Ganbu Mob and Emily King our Assistant Principal convenes Student Support Group meetings for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander students enrolled at our school.

This is part of our commitment to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for everyone at Ashley Park

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Contact Us

We would like to acknowledge and show our respect to the traditional custodians of this land, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and in addition to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, for they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of Aboriginal Australia. It is on their land that Ashley Park Primary School was built and as we share our knowledge, teaching and learning with the School community, may we also show our respect through the relationships we form and our own connection with this beautiful land around us.
